Paola Flores

Youth Minister and Confirmation Coordinator

My name is Paola Flores. I was born in Mexico in 1978 and raised in Orange County. I currently volunteer at Our Lady of La Vang as a Youth Minister and Confirmation Coordinator. I come from a Christian family of 9, My Mother, Carmen and Father, Pedro and 6 brothers and sisters, most of who are very involved in the evangelization and in service to the Church.

On the day of my first communion I felt that God was calling me to give my life in service to the Church. My first opportunity was in 2001 when I left to be a lay missionary through the Neocatechumenal Way, in Texas, New York and Louisiana. This experience was unforgettable as it was during this time that I gradually began to see that God is good, that He provides, that He had chosen me to serve him and ultimately that He loves me with all my baggage. Since, God has given me the desire to be Holy and has given me the generosity to use the talents and gifts that I have to bring souls to Him.

What drives me to serve the Lord today is the increased hopeless and meaningless lives that I see in the world. Through my baptism, I know that I have a responsibility to bring the Love and Truth of Jesus Christ to the world. I am not content knowing that my brother is hungry, hungry for the Love of God and hungry for the true meaning of life. Everyday I ask myself, who will bring the bread of the good news to those who hunger and thirst for a new life, for freedom, for love and I pray to God that He increase my Love for Humanity and that he fill me with zeal and courage to be that instrument to bring man to Christ. There is one quote that deeply inspires my life: "If you are what you should be you will set the whole world on fire. Let the truth be your delight… proclaim it…but with a certain congeniality." — St. Catherine of Siena.
