PSA 2011: Proud to be Catholic!

My Dear Friends in Christ,

Proud to be Catholic is the theme for this year’s Pastoral Services Appeal (PSA) Campaign. Bishop Brown is inviting each of us to express the ways in which we take pride in being Catholic in the Diocese of Orange. One of the ways is to participate in this year’s PSA so that our local church can continue to reach out and serve the many groups and organizations which are a part of our mission and responsibility. With our contributions, we realize that we are able to make a difference in bringing Christ to our brothers and sisters who hunger for the Lord. In the words of our Bishop, “Together we can take pride in being part of something larger than our own parish, by celebrating the impact we have throughout our county.”

As members of the one Body of Christ, we can make a difference with our PSA 2011 gift! With just 513 pledges made in last year’s 2010 campaign, our parish was able to raise $108,505. We contributed $19,000 to the Diocese and received a total rebate of $89,505. I want to especially thank and commend all of you who have contributed very generously. As presented in my financial report in last December, we will use the rebate funds to support three main purposes: (1) Religious Education and Youth Programs; (2) Operating and Maintenance Expenses of our new Pastoral Center; (3) Administrative and General Expenses of our parish.

While we are struggling through a tough economy and some of us do not have jobs, I must once again rely on your spirit of generosity. Your generosity of time, talent, and treasure will be a genuine expression of your love for our parish and our Diocese. Therefore, I hope you will prayerfully consider making a pledge to this year’s PSA Campaign. All the Lord asks is that we give because it is a privilege to do so. We do this freely and willingly because this is at the heart of our Catholic Pride—to give without price or expect a return.

With your contributions this year, I hope to invest in three main needs:(1) to reach out to the wider community by providing assistance to programs such as St. Vincent de Paul in feeding the homeless and those in need of charitable assistance; (2) purchase video projectors and screens for the church to aid in our worship; (3) and fulfill the operational needs of our parish.

I thank you in advance for your participation and contribution in this year’s PSA Campaign. This is our home parish in which we all take pride. I hope together we are able to support, nurture, and share this beautiful gift with the next generation of parishioners to come here at Our Lady of La Vang.

With gratitude,

Fr. Bill Cao
